About The Role
We’re looking for a creative, connected and commercially minded PR & Influencer Manager to help shape how customers, media, creators and tastemakers experience Matalan. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our consumer PR and influencer strategy, build meaningful relationships across the UK media and creator landscape, and play a key role in strengthening Matalan’s reputation as a go-to destination for everyday style, quality and value.
You'll bring story to life across consumer press, influencer partnerships, creator content, events and brand moments. You’ll lead proactive storytelling around our products, campaigns and partnerships, ensuring we are part of the cultural conversation in a way that feels relevant, inspiring and commercially impactful.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute an integrated consumer PR and influencer strategy that elevates Matalan’s position as a leading value fashion and homeware retailer.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, creators, agents and tastemakers across fashion, home, lifestyle and consumer media.
- Create compelling press, influencer and creator-led storytelling around seasonal campaigns, product launches, brand partnerships, store moments and cultural trends.
- Identify and manage relevant ambassadors, creators and content partners who can authentically tell the Matalan story and drive brand consideration.
- Work closely with social, brand, product, commercial, online and corporate PR teams to ensure activity is aligned, consistent and insight-led.
- Lead proactive PR and influencer campaigns that generate meaningful reach, engagement, coverage and conversation.
- Shape an always-on product press office, working with product and commercial teams to identify the stories, ranges and moments most relevant to media and creators.
- Conceptualise and deliver impactful press, influencer and experiential events that showcase the brand and deepen engagement with key audiences.
- Spot cultural moments, consumer trends and content opportunities where Matalan can have a relevant and distinctive point of view.
- Support corporate PR alignment where needed, ensuring consumer activity complements wider business messaging around affordability, inclusivity and responsible retailing.
- Manage agency partners, influencer platforms including LTK, budgets, campaign plans and reporting to ensure activity is delivered efficiently and with clear measures of success.
- Support the implementation and ongoing optimisation of influencer tools and processes, helping the team improve creator discovery, campaign management, measurement and performance insight.
- Lead, coach and inspire your team, fostering a culture of creativity, agility, accountability and collaboration.
- Partner closely with the wider social and brand teams to ensure PR and creator activity works seamlessly across channels.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, confidently advising on consumer PR, influencer engagement, press moments and brand reputation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
