PR Manager

Job Grade: RL3 (Lead)
Reports to: Head of Corporate Communications
Location: Vantage London, Great West Road, Brentford, TW8 9AG
Department: Corporate Affairs
Salary: Up to £60,000

Job Overview

The PR Manager will play a pivotal role in protecting and promoting the Club’s reputation by developing and delivering integrated communications campaigns that support strategic priorities, commercial ambitions, and long-term growth.

Working within the corporate communications function and collaborating closely with colleagues across marketing, content, community, and corporate affairs, the role will help increase the Club’s visibility and influence across sport, lifestyle, entertainment, and business audiences, while helping to strengthen engagement with supporters, the local community, and other key stakeholders.

As a senior PR specialist, the role will lead high-impact communications activity. This includes securing positive media coverage, promoting key club narratives, supporting domestic and international communications initiatives, promoting the work of the Club and its Community Sports Trust, and contributing to wider corporate communications priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work closely with the head of corporate communications and wider communications team, as well as marketing and content departments, to develop and implement integrated campaigns to support the Club's ambitions and strategy
  • Support the development and lead the implementation of proactive PR plans to promote the reputation of the Club
  • Close collaboration with the Brentford FC Community Sports Trust to coordinate PR activities to promote the positive work of the club in the community
  • Support the Club’s international activities working alongside the Head of Corporate Communications and Director of Corporate Affairs to deliver the international PR strategy
  • Proactive media relations to seek opportunities throughout the season, working alongside the Club’s wider communications team. This will include maximising the media agenda and key relevant calendar moments
  • Foster new relationships with relevant and appropriate media across sports, lifestyle, and entertainment platforms on behalf of the Club
  • Develop and manage third-party support and advocacy e.g. media partnerships, opinion-forming influencers across non-sports sectors
  • Support the Investor Relations strategy to help maximise opportunities presented by the Club’s ownership group

Knowledge

  • Proven experience in media relations with extensive contacts across sports, lifestyle, and entertainment media
  • Extensive relevant PR and communications experience including proven PR campaign development and implementation experience with demonstrable results. The candidate should have experience of including meeting campaign objectives, influencing opinion, and achieving coverage in wide-ranging national media outlets / platforms, as well as influencer engagement
  • Excellent media relations and writing skills
  • External stakeholder and agency management experience

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong regional, national, and international media relationships, securing impactful earned coverage
  • Significant experience delivering integrated PR and communications campaigns aligned to strategic priorities, audiences, and measurable outcomes
  • Excellent editorial skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, building credibility and effective partnerships with media, agencies, community organisations, and other key stakeholders
  • Sound understanding of reputation management, with the ability to identify risks and manage sensitive issues

  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with colleagues, media, agencies, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, bringing colleagues together to achieve shared objectives
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment

External Impact

  • Act as a key ambassador for the Club, representing its values through engagement with media, agencies, partners, influencers, and other external stakeholders
  • Lead proactive PR and communications activity

Decision Making

  • Help shape communications approaches and campaign direction for key initiatives, identifying the most effective channels, messaging, and partnerships to maximise impact
  • Work within the strategic direction of the Head of Corporate Communications and Director of Corporate Affairs while maintaining accountability for delivery, outcomes, and performance
