PR Partner (PR Account Director)

Location: Remote First (UK) with travel to Manchester, client sites, and events

Hours: Full Time (5 days/week)

Reports To: Head of PR

Line Management: PR Associate/Junior Partners

About the Role

Open Partners is looking for a high-impact, strategic PR Partner (PR Account Director) to shape and lead integrated PR programmes that drive measurable business outcomes. In this senior leadership role, you will position PR as a strategic growth engine. Working closely across search, content, social, paid media, and analytics, you will build brand authority, improve discoverability, and create long-term commercial value for both our clients and the agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Client Leadership: Build and retain long-term client relationships as a trusted strategic advisor, translating commercial challenges into high-performing communications strategies.
  • Integrated Campaign Execution: Oversee creative, insight-led PR campaigns that blend earned media with search dynamics, AI tools, and content marketing to maximise discoverability and reputation.
  • Commercial Growth & Account Expansion: Identify upselling, cross-selling, and revenue-generation opportunities across your client portfolio, while playing an active role in new business pitches.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Line manage, mentor, and coach junior colleagues (PR Associate and Junior Partners), raising creative and strategic standards across the team.
  • Modern PR & Proposition Innovation: Help evolve Open Partners’ PR proposition by integrating emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and changing consumer behaviours into daily delivery.
  • Crisis Management & Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong relationships with tier-one media, industry influencers, and key stakeholders, providing senior reputation management and crisis response when needed.

What Success Looks Like in 6 Months

  • You are operating as a trusted strategic partner across your client portfolio with minimal supervision needed for campaign delivery.
  • You have delivered integrated campaigns that achieve both client performance metrics and agency commercial targets.
  • You have identified and converted clear account growth opportunities to boost agency revenue.
  • Your direct reports feel supported, challenged, and are actively developing under your mentorship.
  • You have embedded cross-discipline ways of working across search, social, and paid media teams.

  • Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Proven experience running agency client accounts, leading strategy, and understanding commercial agency drivers.
  • Integrated PR Expertise: Deep expertise in earned media combined with a strong grasp of how modern PR intersects with AI, SEO, content, and paid channels.
