Practice Director - Accounting Services

Lead a High-Performing Team. Shape the Future. Drive Growth.

A growing and ambitious accounting and advisory firm at the forefront of AI and offshoring is seeking an exceptional Practice Director, Accounting Services to lead its Accounting Services team and play a key role in the next phase of the firm's growth.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a commercially focused qualified accountant who combines strong technical expertise with a proven ability to develop teams, build client relationships and win new business.

The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 25 professionals, oversee the delivery of high-quality accounting services and help drive the continued expansion of a modern, forward-thinking practice.

This is a role for an individual who enjoys balancing technical expertise with leadership, relationship building and commercial growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, develop and inspire a team of approximately 25 accounting professionals.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability and exceptional client service.
  • Coach and develop senior team members and future leaders.
  • Drive employee engagement, performance and professional development.
  • Ensure the team has the capability and capacity to support continued growth.

Client Service & Technical Leadership

  • Act as the senior technical lead across the Accounting Services function.
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting and financial reporting matters.
  • Maintain technical leadership across UK GAAP and related reporting requirements.
  • Ensure consistently high standards of delivery and client service.
  • Build trusted relationships with Finance Directors, CFOs, business owners and other senior stakeholders.

Business Development & Growth

  • Drive revenue growth and profitability within the Accounting Services division.
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities.
  • Lead proposals, pitches and commercial discussions.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with clients, introducers and professional networks.
  • Support strategic account development and cross-service opportunities across the wider business.
  • Raise the profile of the firm through networking, thought leadership and market engagement.

Strategic Leadership

  • Contribute to the firm's broader growth strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for service development, innovation and operational improvement.
  • Help strengthen the firm's market position and reputation.
  • Play an active role in shaping the future direction of the business.

About the Candidate:

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong technical background and a genuine passion for helping clients, developing people and growing a business.

They will demonstrate:

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Significant post-qualified experience within accountancy practice
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
  • Experience leading sizeable teams and managing senior stakeholders.
  • A successful track record of business development and winning new client work.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify growth opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, networking and relationship-building skills.
  • The credibility and confidence to operate as a trusted adviser to business leaders.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Partner/Director level experience within an accountancy practice.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting expertise.
  • Has a successful history of building client relationships and winning new business.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of leading, developing and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Combines technical credibility with strong commercial awareness.
  • Experienced and confident engaging with business owners, Finance Directors and CFOs.
