Job Overview
Practice Education Facilitator for SWAG Cancer Alliance Domestic Abuse
We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Practice Education Facilitator to join our team and support the development of the cancer workforce in line with the ACCEND Framework for Cancer Care.
This role is pivotal in advancing the Domestic Abuse and Cancer education and capability of the workforce across specialist cancer services. Enthusiasm for learning and supporting others in these areas is welcomed.
There is a significant opportunity for the six trusts within SWAG Cancer Alliance to learn from one another and strengthen their approaches to domestic abuse through shared policies, procedures, and best practice. A coordinated model will improve consistency, build confidence across services, and ensure staff and patients receive the highest standard of support.
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Domestic Abuse and cancer education and contribute meaningfully to workforce transformation. This expansion will significantly increase workforce capability, strengthen safeguarding practice, and ensure consistent, trauma-informed responses to domestic abuse across the alliance.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- Scale workforce competence and confidence by expanding training beyond the current 700+ professionals, embedding domestic abuse awareness as a core component of cancer care
- Improve risk identification and response by introducing DASH risk assessment training
- Create a sustainable legacy through Domestic Abuse Champions training
- Influence future workforce development by embedding Cancer and Domestic Abuse education within curricula
- Showcasing learning and impact at national Macmillan, NHS and VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) conferences.
- Sharing best practice with other Cancer Alliances, charities, and system partners
- Delivering a targeted national online offer for non-SWAG Trusts
- Clear, accessible patient resources (posters, leaflets, digital content) across clinical and community settings
- Targeted awareness sessions
- Integration of domestic abuse guidance into national resources, such as Macmillan’s Relationships and Cancer materials, closing a critical information gap.
- Co-production with victim-survivors through forums and peer support models to ensure services reflect lived experience.
- An inclusive public-facing campaign, delivered with CIC partners such as OUTpatients and Black Women Rising, ensuring culturally competent and intersectional engagement.
- Development of a cancer-specific Duluth Wheel
- A high-profile awareness campaign aligned with the 16 Days of Activism (November 2026) to maximise reach and impact.
Person specification
Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience or working towards)
- Extensive experience of the national strategy and local context for Domestic abuse in Cancer including the toolkit to support cancer professionals to identify and respond to signs of domestic abuse in patients with cancer and their carers.
- Advanced practical and technical skills in the design, delivery, and evaluation of education relating to domestic abuse and cancer care.
- Excellent Facilitation and presentation skills – Delivers engaging education sessions, workshops, and training programmes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, credibility, and effective working relationships across multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams
