Reporting to: Managing Director
About the Company Our client is a global research, insight, and advisory firm working with leading multinational corporations across more than 70 countries and 30 industry sectors. Its Energy Practice spans the full value chain, from oil and gas and power and utilities through renewables, energy transition, energy infrastructure, and emerging technologies, combining deep techno-commercial expertise with an extensive industry network. As decarbonisation, electrification, and digitalisation reshape the sector, the practice is evolving its offering to blend strategic advisory, market intelligence, and AI-enabled decision support.
The Role Our client is seeking to recruit a Practice Head – Energy to define and execute the strategic direction, business growth, client engagement, and overall P&L of its Energy Practice. This is a senior executive appointment. The successful candidate will own the practice strategy, build strategic client relationships at CXO level, develop new revenue streams, lead high-value advisory engagements, and represent the firm at industry forums and executive platforms. The role also carries responsibility for building the practice’s capabilities, talent, and culture.
The role is based in the United Kingdom, with home working available subject to business requirements and management discretion.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Energy Practice, identifying priority markets, growth themes, and differentiated areas of expertise
- Own the P&L, revenue growth, profitability, and commercial performance of the practice
- Build and execute a high-value business development strategy focused on acquiring, growing, and retaining strategic accounts across the global energy ecosystem
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with CXOs, business leaders, investors, and technology providers across the sector
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives on energy transition, growth strategy, market disruption, technology adoption, and business transformation
- Oversee the design and delivery of high-impact consulting and advisory engagements, ensuring strong commercial and client outcomes
- Build market visibility through industry research, executive roundtables, keynote presentations, and published insights
- Shape and commercialise differentiated advisory offerings, including recurring intelligence and subscription-based propositions
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing practice, recruiting and retaining senior talent aligned with the growth strategy
- Ensure effective governance, quality management, and commercial discipline, driving scalability through AI, analytics, and technology-enabled delivery

Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, advisory, or senior industry roles, with significant experience in the energy sector, is mandatory
- Strong industry experience across one or more of oil and gas, power and utilities, renewables, energy transition, energy infrastructure, or emerging energy technologies
- Proven experience owning or managing a P&L, with a track record of driving both top-line growth and profitability
- Demonstrated track record of building multi-million-dollar revenue streams and managing strategic global client relationships
- Established network of relationships with CXOs, business leaders, investors, and policymakers across the energy ecosystem
- Proven ability to originate, sell, and lead complex commercial and techno-commercial advisory engagements
- Exceptional strategic thinking, client leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous, fast-changing environment while creating clarity for clients and teams
- Engineering, science, or energy-related educational background, with an M.S., PhD, and/or MBA preferred
