Hardware Engineering Practice Lead

Bristol or London (Hybrid)

Akkodis is seeking a Hardware Engineering Practice Lead to drive our UK Hardware Engineering capability across Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, and Systems Hardware disciplines.

This is a high-impact leadership role combining people management, technical leadership, and business growth, with the opportunity to shape a growing engineering practice supporting some of the UK's most complex programmes across Defence, Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, and Industrial sectors.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and developing a team of engineering consultants and technical specialists
  • Driving engineering excellence, governance, and capability growth
  • Supporting delivery across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to in-service support
  • Partnering with Sales, Delivery, and Talent Acquisition teams to grow capability and win new business
  • Acting as a trusted technical advisor on strategically important client programmes
  • Contributing to bids, solution development, workforce planning, and customer engagement

What we're looking for:

  • Significant experience in Hardware, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
  • Proven leadership experience within consultancy, engineering services, or technical delivery environments
  • Strong people management, coaching, and capability development skills
  • Experience within Defence, Aerospace, Industrial, Manufacturing, or other highly regulated sectors
  • Strong understanding of engineering governance, systems engineering, product development, and lifecycle management

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status desirable

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of our customer projects, successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC). Existing SC or DV clearance is advantageous.
