Practice Manager / Senior Accountant (Construction Specialist)

West Midlands | Hybrid / Predominantly Remote
£55,000 - £65,000 per annum + Performance Bonus + Route to Partnership + Future Equity

Looking for more than just another Practice Manager role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Practice Manager or Senior Accountant to join a rapidly growing Accountancy Group specialising exclusively within the Construction sector.

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for someone looking to help shape and grow a successful practice, with a clear route to Partnership and future equity for the right individual.

Operating across three UK locations, including Central London and Glasgow, the business offers an excellent hybrid working environment with the opportunity to work predominantly remotely once established within the role.

The Role

Working closely with the Directors, you'll lead a specialist Construction client portfolio whilst managing a team consisting of two UK-based employees and two offshore team members based in South Africa.

You'll play a key role in delivering exceptional client service, developing your team and supporting the continued growth of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of Construction sector clients.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of UK and offshore staff.
  • Review statutory accounts and management accounts.
  • Oversee Corporation Tax, VAT and CIS compliance.
  • Advise owner-managed businesses operating within the Construction sector.
  • Review work completed by junior team members.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Improve internal systems, workflows and client service standards.
  • Support the Directors with the continued growth of the business.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who has:

  • ACA or ACCA Qualified (FCA or FCCA preferred).
  • Significant UK Accountancy Practice experience.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Accountant, Client Manager, Assistant Manager or Practice Manager.
  • Strong Construction sector experience (essential).
  • Excellent technical knowledge of:
    • Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)
    • Construction VAT Schemes
    • FRS 102
    • Corporation Tax
    • Loss Relief
    • Statutory Accounts
    • Management Accounts
    • Year-End Accounts
    • Tax Planning for Construction businesses
  • Previous people management experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ambition to help grow a successful Accountancy Practice.
  • A genuine desire to progress towards Partnership.
