We have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Manager - Therapies to join Southampton City Council's SEND Service.
About The Team
Southampton City Council is delivering an ambitious programme of SEND reform through Southampton 360 model, our city-wide approach to improving inclusion, early intervention and outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
As part of this transformation, we are establishing a new Children's Therapy Service that will bring together specialist occupational therapy and speech and language therapy expertise to support children and young people across universal, targeted and targeted plus pathways. Working as part of our Experts at Hand model, the service will strengthen inclusive practice within schools and settings, build workforce confidence and capacity, and ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time.
About The Role
This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape a newly established Children's Therapy Service at the heart of Southampton's SEND transformation programme.
As Practice Manager - Therapies, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for a multidisciplinary team comprising Highly Specialist Occupational Therapists, Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists, therapy practitioners and support staff. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across education, health and care, including NHS and Integrated Care Board partners, to ensure high-quality services that improve outcomes for children and young people.
The role will focus on developing high-quality therapy provision that supports communication, participation, sensory needs, access to learning and inclusion. You will oversee service quality, workforce development, performance management, strategic planning and continuous improvement, ensuring that therapy services are evidence-informed, outcome-focused and responsive to local need.

You will also play a key role in shaping partnerships across the local area, representing the therapies service within governance arrangements and contributing to the wider Southampton 360 model programme and ongoing SEND reform activity.

About You
We are looking for an experienced and inspirational leader with a strong background in therapy services and a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
You Will Have
- A recognised Speech and Language Therapy or Occupational Therapy qualification and relevant professional registration.
- Significant experience of working with children and young people with SEND, including neurodivergent children and young people.
- Experience of leading teams, developing services and delivering high-quality outcomes within therapy, education, health, local government or a related environment.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive approaches which support children and young people to thrive.
- Experience of partnership working across education, health and care services.
- Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to drive improvement, influence change and support innovation across complex systems.

What We Can Offer You
Salary: The salary band for this role is £54,143 - £60,807 per annum (pro rata). The starting salary is £54,143 with annual progression through the salary bands.
