About the Role
I'm Jake Bartlett, a Senior Partner in a St. James's Place Partner Practice based in Moorgate. I'm looking for an experienced Practice Manager to work directly with me, starting by running my diary, inbox and client administration and growing into the Operations Manager who runs the day-to-day of the practice.
This role is for someone who wants a long-term career in practice operations, not a route to becoming an adviser.
What you'll do
- Manage my diary, inbox and day-to-day priorities
- Be a key point of contact for clients and handle their queries
- Liaise with SJP, product providers and third parties to move things forward
- Chase new money and see cases through to completion
- Oversee workflow: Letters of Authority, new business, replacement business and case tracking
- Keep accurate records in Salesforce and iBusiness
- Check client documentation before it goes out
- Prepare for client meetings and make sure follow-up actions get done
- Improve our processes as the practice grows
- Support me on projects from start to finish
- Take on team management as the business grows

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
