The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a background in medical technology or physics to work as part of a team delivering a Nuclear Medicine imaging service. The work, which is patient-focused, includes routine performance and quality control of diagnostic nuclear medicine studies; processing and management of acquired data; acting as an operator under IRMER and patient cannulation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Applicants must state their current right to work in their application.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Gartnavel General Hospital, four nine-hour shifts per week
- Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00
- Training will be delivered across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality Nuclear Medicine procedures, ensuring safe and effective patient care throughout the patient journey
- Prepare, support, and monitor patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic investigations using specialist imaging and clinical equipment
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals and assist with clinical procedures in accordance with training, competency, and relevant legislation
- Operate, maintain, and undertake quality assurance checks on highly specialised imaging and scientific equipment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to plan, coordinate, and deliver timely patient-centred services
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with clinical governance, radiation protection, health and safety, and confidentiality requirements
- Contribute to departmental audit, service development, research activity, and continuous professional development initiatives

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to do the Job
Applicants should have a degree in Medical Technology, a degree in Physical Science, or BSc in Diagnostic or Therapeutic Radiology (or other appropriate discipline) or equivalent. (HNC/ONC with significant suitable experience will be considered). Registration on the Register for Clinical Technologists (RCT) is desirable. (If not, the post-holder will follow a training plan and is expected to achieve the award of DipIPEM (T) and this may include some academic postgraduate modules within the 2.5 years.). Applicants should also have some experience in a health care environment along with experience in planning, investigating, and performing technical projects.
