A permanent, part-time vacancy has arisen for a Pre-Analytic Processor in the Pathology Specimen Reception at Furness General Hospital, Lancashire and South Cumbria Pathology Service, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Pathology is at the heart of healthcare. Pathology Reception is the starting point of every specimen's analytical journey, from inpatient to outpatient everything starts with us.
You will be joining a busy team providing an essential Blood Sciences and Microbiology service for patients in the North Lancashire and South Cumbria area.
This is a part-time vacancy working 23.5 hours per week (Tuesday 12:00-20:00 (30 min unpaid break), Wednesday 12:00-20:00 (30 min unpaid break), Friday 09:00-13:00, Sunday alternate 09:00-15:00 week one and 12:00-15:00 week two per rota.
This is an interesting and challenging position and offers the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to patient care. Your primary role will be in the specimen reception expediting the processing of specimens that require analysis within a short time frame.

The responsibilities of this job are to perform clerical and reception duties within the laboratory. Receiving samples for laboratory testing to check that all details of the request forms and samples match and to enter them into our laboratory system. To act as the first point of reference for enquiries into the department and assisting patients with general enquiries both on the telephone and face to face.
You will also be required to welcome and offer advice to patients arriving in the department to have blood collected in the Phlebotomy clinic.
You must be reliable and able to work under pressure to extremely high standards.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised, methodical and highly motivated individual.
Full training will be given for all aspects of the role so previous experience of working in similar roles is not essential.
You will be required to participate in the bank holiday, evening and weekend rota as required.
