Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced and driven Pre-Construction Manager to join our growing Groundworks division. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives on planning, coordination and delivering successful project outcomes from tender stage through to site commencement.

Working closely with estimating, commercial, operational and client teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are thoroughly planned, commercially viable and ready for successful delivery.

The Role

As Pre-Construction Manager, you will take ownership of the pre-construction process, ensuring all projects are effectively planned and resourced prior to mobilisation.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the pre-construction phase for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
  • Reviewing tender information and supporting the estimating process.
  • Coordinating site investigations, surveys and technical assessments.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal departments.
  • Developing construction methodologies, programmes and logistics plans.
  • Identifying project risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Supporting contract negotiations and project handovers.
  • Ensuring statutory, environmental and health & safety requirements are considered from the outset.
  • Assisting with value engineering opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Leading pre-start meetings and ensuring projects are fully prepared for delivery teams.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a Pre-Construction, Contracts, Project Management or Estimating role within groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project planning.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and risk management skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A proactive and organised approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and project planning software.
  • Full UK driving licence.
