Reuben Myers Solicitors provides strategic and commercially-minded support from pre-action protocols through to trial, helping clients recover losses efficiently across multiple UK and Irish legal systems. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Pre-litigation Fee Earner role based at the firm’s Preston office. The role involves managing a caseload of pre-litigation matters, including credit hire, vehicle damage, and related recovery claims, from initial instruction through to the commencement of proceedings where necessary.

- Reviewing evidence
- Drafting correspondence and pre-action protocol letters
- Assessing liability and quantum
- Negotiating settlements with third parties and their representatives
The Pre-litigation Fee Earner will liaise with clients, insurers, and credit hire organisations, maintain accurate and up-to-date file records, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal workflows. The role also includes working closely with the litigation team to transition appropriate cases into formal proceedings.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law, with experience handling pre-litigation matters and applying relevant legal principles.
- Knowledge of Insurance practices, including motor, credit hire, and subrogated recovery processes.
- Understanding of Property Damage and vehicle-related loss, including assessment of repair, hire, and storage claims.
- Experience in Civil Litigation and Litigation processes, particularly within personal injury, motor, or credit hire contexts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise legal correspondence and negotiate effectively.
- Proven ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and a methodical approach to evidence review and case preparation.
- Previous experience in a similar pre-litigation or claims handling role within a law firm, insurer, or CHO is highly beneficial.
- Relevant legal qualifications (such as a law degree, LPC, SQE, or equivalent experience) are desirable.
