Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Pre-Press Designer on a rolling monthly contract on a rate of £19.02/hour (PAYE).
Responsibilities
- Carrying out general pre-press tasks, amending and updating artwork files and preparing customers’ files for print. Proofing, quality checking, imposing and creating print ready PDF files. Taking responsibility for checking files are correct before passing to the next stage of production.
- Producing creative graphic design work, working closely with customers to discuss their individual design needs and specifications. Using variable data, text and images to create professional, effective, design solutions to meet customers’ requirements.
- Support the Production Team in fulfilling print requests during periods of high demand and to provide operational cover during periods of annual leave or other staff absence.
- Support the Production Team with associated administrative processes, including job pricing, customer service and liaison with Finance colleagues to facilitate internal recharging.

Essential Skills
- HND or equivalent qualification in Graphic Design, plus at least 3 years relevant experience of working in a similar environment
- Thorough knowledge of pre-press production processes within the print and design industry
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and imposition software
- Experience of designing and producing artwork for a wide range of printed materials e.g. stationery, leaflets, booklets, posters, large format display work, form cut products, variable data products
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication skills with a strong focus on customer service
- Experience of working on both Mac and Windows platforms
- Experience of working within a print production team
