Role Description
This full-time, on-site Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician role is based in the United Kingdom within Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust pharmacy services. There are 3 full-time posts, based at the following sites: Redwoods (Shrewsbury), St Georges (Stafford) & The Haywood (Stoke, Burslem). The post holder will support the safe, effective, and timely supply of medicines, including receiving, dispensing, labelling, and issuing prescriptions under the supervision of registered pharmacy professionals. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining accurate patient records, managing stock and ordering processes, assisting with medicines reconciliation, and supporting ward-based and community pharmacy activities. The role also involves providing courteous, clear information to patients and colleagues, contributing to medicines safety initiatives, and adhering to relevant legislation, local policies, and professional standards. The Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician will participate in structured training, study, and assessments to meet the requirements for registration while actively contributing to a collaborative, learning-focused environment.

- Strong foundation in pharmacy-related knowledge, including basic pharmacology, medicines management principles, and an understanding of NHS pharmacy services.
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in handling prescriptions, medicines labelling, record-keeping, and stock management tasks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage collaboratively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams in clinical and community settings.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities to prioritize workloads, meet deadlines, and respond safely to changing service demands.
- Competence with IT systems, including electronic prescribing, dispensing, and patient record software, as well as general office applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets).
- Commitment to learning, reflective practice, and completing the accredited Pre-registration Pharmacy Technician training program and associated assessments.
- Ability to follow governance, confidentiality, and medicines legislation requirements, and to contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications (typically including Mathematics, English, and Science) and eligibility for enrolment on an approved Pharmacy Technician training course.
