Job title: Pre-Sales Engineer – Hybrid & 365
Location: Manchester (hybrid working available)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Focus of the role:
The Pre-Sales Engineer will play a key role in supporting the sales process by designing, scoping and recommending technology solutions that align with customer business and technical requirements. The primary focus of the role is On-Premise Infrastructure and Microsoft Modern Work solutions, helping customers modernise, optimise and secure their IT environments.
The role requires strong technical expertise across on-premises infrastructure, networking, servers, storage, Active Directory, backup solutions, Microsoft 365, identity, endpoint management and security technologies. Working closely with Account Managers, customers and internal delivery teams, the Pre-Sales Engineer will act as a trusted technical advisor, ensuring proposed solutions are technically sound, commercially viable and deliver tangible business outcomes.

Whilst the primary focus of the role is on-premises infrastructure, networking, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management solutions, experience with Microsoft Azure would be advantageous.
Responsibilities:
Technical Pre-Sales Support
- Support Account Managers with technical guidance throughout the sales process.
- Lead customer discovery to understand requirements and qualify solutions.
Solution Design & Consultancy
- Design Hybrid Infrastructure and Modern Work solutions.
- Produce proposals, designs, scopes and Statements of Work.
- Assess risks and ensure solutions meet customer, security and industry requirements.
Customer Engagement
- Act as a trusted technical advisor.
- Deliver presentations, demonstrations and workshops.
- Explain technical solutions in clear business terms.
Internal Collaboration
- Collaborate with Sales, Delivery, Service Desk and Security teams.
- Provide clear implementation handovers.
- Support service development, documentation and continuous improvement.
Person, Skills & Experience:
- Experience in a Pre-Sales, Solutions Architect, Technical Consultant or senior engineering role within an MSP, IT services or consultancy environment.
- Proven experience designing and scoping infrastructure and Microsoft solutions.
- Experience producing and presenting proposals, Statements of Work and technical documentation to varied audiences.
Essential Technical Skills:
Hybrid Infrastructure
- Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
- Hyper-V or VMware, with SAN and NAS storage.
- Backup, disaster recovery, resilience and business continuity, ideally using Veeam.
Networking
- Switching, routing, VLANs, WAN, wireless and site-to-site VPNs.
- Network troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
- Enterprise platforms such as Aruba, Cisco, Meraki or Dell.

Security
- Firewalls such as Fortinet, SonicWall or WatchGuard.
- Secure remote access, MFA and network segmentation.
- Security best practice and infrastructure hardening.
Modern Work
- Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams and OneDrive.
- Entra ID, Conditional Access and identity security.
- Intune, MDM, MAM and Windows Autopilot.
- Microsoft Defender and endpoint security.
