About The Role
The Enterprise Architect leads the customer technology direction and long-term architecture strategy for complex pursuits, shaping demand early and defining the target state that underpins the deal.
Ensures target state architecture is aligned to customer needs and BT strategy. Unlocks long-term value for both the customer and BT by ensuring target architecture is scalable, secure, and commercially viable.
The Enterprise Architect is the customers' Trusted Advisor and as such an integral part of customer’s matrix leadership team, creating value through the exploitation of technology across complex multiple platforms and/or technology areas.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Define and own the target architecture (“what the future should look like”), roadmap, and cross-domain standards for complex deals
- Shape customer technology direction pre-RFP, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and influencing demand and deal outcomes
- Ensure scalable, secure, and commercially viable target architecture, aligning technology choices to customer strategy, customer outcomes, and BT architecture strategy
- Lead architectural risk, trade-offs, and decision management across the deal, ensuring solutions are deliverable, compliant, and sustainable
- Partner across commercial, solution, and delivery teams to align solutions and commercial direction to architecture intent
- Act as the senior technical authority, resolving complex challenges and guiding architecture decisions throughout the pursuit
- Drive innovation, lead continuous improvement, and enable capability uplift to strengthen the complex value proposition and evolving architecture practices
- Assess profitability, cost-to-serve, and architectural risk for specific deals
- Enable value-led propositions by aligning technology choices to customer business case
- Inform investment decisions for innovation/new services, balancing risk, ROI, and scalability
- Build, maintain, and deepen trusted-advisor relationships with customer stakeholders up to C-suite level, providing clear, honest challenge where appropriate, influencing strategic direction, shaping demand, and driving sustainable financial growth
- Work in a highly connected way with internal teams and strategic partners to design and demonstrate complex solutions, confidently addressing the most challenging technical, commercial, and operational questions, and resolving issues

Essential Skills / Experience
- Proven experience of Pre-sales.
- Broad experience across technologies, with a view across areas such as networks, AI, cloud, contact centers, and voice.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- TOGAF certified, or equivalent enterprise architecture qualification.
- Experience leading and influencing enterprise architecture strategy within large, complex organisations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience developing business cases and building compelling cases for investment and organisational change.
- Strong commercial and business acumen, including understanding of business strategy, KPIs, organisational performance, and financial drivers.
- Experience working within a large telecommunications, technology, or managed services environment.
- Knowledge of BT's technology portfolio and strategic architecture frameworks.
- Experience collaborating across multiple architecture disciplines to drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
- Understanding of emerging technology trends and their application within complex customer environments.
- Experience working with external partners, vendors, and strategic alliances to deliver customer outcomes.
