About Us And The Role
Barford St. Peter’s Pre-School is a welcoming setting in the heart of Barford, a village with a strong sense of community. We provide an inspiring environment where 3 and 4-year-olds can play, learn and grow. As an integral part of the primary school, our children enjoy shared events and services and join the school children for lunch each day.
We are looking for a kind, enthusiastic and reliable Play Worker to join our team. You will help create a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment, supporting children’s play, friendships and independence. Working alongside colleagues, you will prepare engaging activities, respond to children’s interests and support daily routines, helping every child feel valued and included.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Our children love exploring outdoors. The school’s forest school area, kitchen garden and resident chickens provide wonderful opportunities for discovery, creativity and hands-on learning. We celebrate different cultures and festivals and help children develop kindness, respect and care for others.
We offer a friendly, supportive team and value the contribution of every member of staff. Staff wellbeing is important to us, with regular opportunities to discuss support and wellbeing throughout the year.
What We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have a caring, patient approach and a passion for working with young children. You will understand how children learn through play and be familiar with the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will be able to support children’s individual needs, encourage positive behaviour and maintain a safe, well-organised environment. Good communication, a positive work ethic and the ability to use your initiative are essential, alongside a willingness to contribute ideas and work collaboratively. You will build warm, professional relationships with children, families and colleagues and recognise the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality.
