Premises Manager (School)

Location: Bermondsey, London

Salary: £37,000 - £38,000 per annum

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

Start Date: Ideally 7th September 2026

Hours: Split Shift (6:00am - 10:00am and 2:00pm - 5:00pm)

The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Premises Manager to join a busy and welcoming school in Bermondsey. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on facilities professional looking for a long-term role within an educational environment.

Working on a split-shift basis, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, security, and operational running of the school site, ensuring that the premises remain safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening and securing the school site each day.
  • Carrying out routine site inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinating repairs and liaising with external contractors.
  • Managing health and safety compliance across the premises.
  • Conducting regular safety checks and risk assessments.
  • Ensuring the school grounds, buildings, and facilities are clean, safe, and operational.
  • Supporting with emergency repairs and site-related issues.
  • Monitoring site security, alarms, and access control systems.
  • Assisting with room setups and site requirements for school events and activities.
  • Maintaining accurate records relating to maintenance and compliance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Premises Manager, Site Manager, Facilities Manager, Caretaker, or similar role, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations and building maintenance.
  • Practical maintenance and DIY skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Previous experience in a similar premises or facilities management role.
  • Right to work in the UK.
