A welcoming and vibrant primary school in Wandsworth is seeking an experienced and reliable Premises Assistant to join its dedicated premises team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hardworking and conscientious Premises Assistant who takes pride in maintaining safe, clean and welcoming environments for pupils, staff and the wider school community.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the school site, buildings and grounds are maintained to a high standard, while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school.

The Role

The successful Premises Assistant will support the day-to-day management and maintenance of the school site, ensuring that the buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, clean and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Carrying out general maintenance and repairs across the school site.
  • Supporting the daily opening and closing of the school premises.
  • Ensuring the school buildings and grounds remain safe and presentable.
  • Carrying out regular checks and reporting any issues or defects.
  • Supporting health and safety procedures across the site.
  • Assisting with deliveries, moving equipment and setting up rooms when required.
  • Maintaining high standards across the school's facilities and outdoor areas.
  • Working collaboratively with school staff and external contractors.
  • Responding promptly to any premises-related issues that arise.

The Ideal Premises Assistant

The school is looking for a Premises Assistant who is:

  • Reliable, practical and hardworking.
  • Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident carrying out general maintenance and premises duties.
  • Able to work independently and use initiative.
  • Flexible and willing to undertake a varied range of responsibilities.
  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a wider team.
  • Committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for children and staff.

Previous experience within a school, education, facilities, maintenance or premises environment would be advantageous.

Working Hours and Salary

  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Monday-Thursday: 10:15am-6:05pm
  • Friday: 9:30am-5:00pm
