About the Role

Wadhurst CE Primary School & Nursery, part of the Bewl Federation, is seeking a dedicated, proactive and skilled Premises Manager to join our friendly and committed team.

We are a welcoming and ambitious school with a strong sense of community, where children thrive in a nurturing and inspiring environment. Our extensive grounds, Forest School area and school facilities are at the heart of school life, and we are looking for an individual who takes pride in maintaining safe, attractive and well-functioning premises for our pupils, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opening, closing and securing the school site.
  • Conducting routine building and grounds inspections.
  • Carrying out general repairs, maintenance and decorating tasks.
  • Managing health and safety checks and compliance records.
  • Supervising contractors and coordinating maintenance works.
  • Maintaining the school grounds, outdoor learning areas and facilities.
  • Supporting emergency repairs and responding to site issues when required.

Requirements

  • Has strong practical maintenance and handyman skills.
  • Has experience in areas such as carpentry, basic plumbing, decorating and general repairs.
  • Is able to carry out routine maintenance and site improvement work to a high standard.
  • Has a good understanding of health and safety requirements and building compliance.
  • Can manage contractors and oversee site-related works effectively.
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards across the school environment.
  • Is organised, reliable and able to prioritise workloads independently.
  • Has excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
  • Builds positive and respectful relationships with pupils, families, staff and external stakeholders.
  • Is committed to contributing to the life and success of our school community.
