Job Introduction

Our Preparation Team play an important role within the kitchen, ensuring ingredients are prepared accurately, safely and to the high standards Bigham’s is known for.

The team focus on preparing fresh ingredients so they are ready for the next stage of production, helping our wider kitchen teams deliver great food every day.

Role Responsibility

As a Preparation Team Member, you will be responsible for:

  • Weighing large volumes of ingredients
  • Hand-cutting or slicing fresh ingredients, including fish and meat
  • Preparing ingredients in line with set specifications and standards
  • Maintaining high hygiene standards and a clean, tidy workspace
  • Completing food preparation records and logs
  • Carrying out quality checks to ensure Bigham’s standards are met
  • Completing effective and accurate shift handovers
  • Flagging any issues with equipment or processes within your area

You’ll Also Need

  • A willingness to work in temperature-controlled environments
  • A desire to develop your skills and grow as part of the Bigham’s team

Experience of working in a food handling or production environment would be beneficial, but isn’t essential - we’ll provide full food safety and quality training for those without prior experience.

What you’ll receive

Role

This is a role for people who take real pride in their work and enjoy being part of a busy, hands-on kitchen environment. When you start your career with Bigham’s, you’ll receive:

  • A competitive hourly rate of £14.72, rising to £15.33 after 3 months (equivalent to over £32,000 per year, rising to over £33,000, based on a 40-hour week, excluding overtime)
  • Overtime paid at over £20 per hour, paid at 1.5x the hourly rate
  • 28 days’ annual leave, increasing with service
