Pre-Sales Solutions Consultant
Salary: Up to £80,000 + 25% commission
Sector: Managed Services / Technology Consultancy
We are working with a growing technology services business looking to hire an experienced Pre-Sales Solutions Consultant to join its commercial and technical function.
This is a broad, consultative role for someone who is comfortable working across infrastructure, cloud, software, automation and AI-led solutions.
The business operates as a technology partner to its clients rather than simply supplying products or licences. As a result, this position requires someone who can understand a client's wider business challenges, translate those challenges into technical requirements and shape the right solution around them.
The Role
You will work closely with clients, sales teams, and technical specialists to identify requirements, develop solutions, and support opportunities from initial discovery through to proposal and close.
A key part of the role will be running effective discovery conversations and understanding what a client is genuinely trying to achieve, rather than simply responding to an initial technical request.
You will then use your knowledge of the wider technology landscape to recommend and design appropriate solutions.
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Leading client discovery sessions and technical workshops
- Understanding business challenges, technical environments, and future objectives
- Designing and shaping technology solutions across multiple disciplines
- Supporting opportunities across infrastructure, cloud, software, automation, and AI
- Translating complex technical solutions into clear commercial and business outcomes
- Producing solution designs, scopes, proposals, and technical documentation
- Supporting client presentations, demonstrations, bids, and tenders
- Working alongside sales teams throughout the opportunity lifecycle
- Engaging internal technical specialists and external technology partners where required
- Challenging proposed solutions when a more appropriate approach is available
- Helping develop new propositions and services as the organisation continues to expand its capabilities

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You will be comfortable asking difficult questions, challenging assumptions, and recommending a different approach where you believe it will deliver a better outcome.
You should be able to communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and explain complex technology in a straightforward, commercially relevant way.
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Experience conducting technical discovery and requirements gathering
- Broad knowledge of the technology landscape
- Strong solution design and problem-solving capability
- Commercial awareness
- Confidence presenting solutions to clients

Why Consider This Opportunity?
The main attraction of this role is its breadth.
Rather than being restricted to a single vendor, technology, or predefined proposition, you will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of technologies and shape solutions around the client's actual requirements.
You will have significant influence over solution design and will work within an environment that encourages people to challenge conventional thinking and introduce new ideas.
For someone currently working in pre-sales or solution architecture who wants more autonomy, broader technical exposure, and greater involvement in shaping client solutions, this represents a strong next step.
Package: Up to £80,000 basic salary plus 25% commission.
