It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions.

Job Description

This is an opportunity to join the PRI’s Communications team and help deliver media engagement on some of the most important issues shaping responsible investment. The Press Officer will support the day-to-day running of the press office, identify proactive media opportunities, prepare spokespeople and help strengthen the PRI’s profile across international, national and specialist media. The role will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including subject specialists, regional Markets teams, Leadership Communications and the CEO Office.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Press and Corporate Communications and the Director / Interim Director of Communications in delivering the team’s plan and priorities.
  • Help manage the day-to-day press office, acting as a first point of contact for inbound media enquiries and ensuring requests are assessed, prioritised and handled effectively.
  • Coordinate media interviews and other engagement with international, national and specialist publications.
  • Prepare clear, concise media briefings and supporting materials for PRI spokespeople.
  • Draft and edit communications materials, including quotes, comments, statements, opinion pieces, blogs and media pitches, for different audiences and outlets.
  • Monitor the media landscape and identify timely, proactive opportunities to communicate the PRI’s work and expertise.
  • Maintain the press calendar, media contact database and media monitoring records, and support regular reporting on press activity and coverage.
  • Work closely with the PRI’s external communications agencies to coordinate and deliver media activity.
  • Support media engagement around PRI events, including the PRI’s global conference, PRI in Person.
  • Work with Leadership Communications and the CEO Office to support tactical media engagement for the CEO, including identifying appropriate interview opportunities linked to executive travel.
  • Partner with regional Markets teams to support local and regional media activity.
  • Build productive relationships with PRI subject specialists and help translate technical work into clear, relevant media opportunities.
  • Contribute flexibly to wider Communications team priorities and activities when required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content for different audiences.
  • Professional experience in media relations, gained in an in-house communications team, agency, press office or similar environment.
  • Experience handling media enquiries and coordinating interviews, briefings or other media activity.
  • Sound editorial judgement and the ability to identify relevant and timely media opportunities.
  • Ability to understand complex or technical subjects and communicate them clearly and accessibly.
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills, with experience building productive relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to fast-moving requests.
  • A collaborative and consultative approach, with a commitment to contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • A growth mindset and commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Confident using Microsoft 365 applications and media monitoring, contact management or related communications platforms.
  • An interest in responsible investment, sustainable finance, investment or related policy issues is desirable.
  • Language skills, other than English, are desirable.
