Recruiting Now: Press Officer - Membership Organisation - Central London, NW1 - Office Based - £28k
We are on the hunt for someone with a passion for writing to join the communications team as a Press Assistant with a degree in Journalism, English Language or similar, to join an interesting national membership organisation based near Bloomsbury, on a permanent basis.
The Press Assistant will be mentored by the Communications Manager in helping to shape the organisation’s messaging to the media and public, so we’re looking for someone who is willing to learn, with great communication skills to build strong media relations.
Suitable candidates will have excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to produce compelling content.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining relationships with key journalists and media outlets
- Distributing press releases, statements, and other media materials
- Organising and managing media briefings and other events to promote activities and announcements
- Cross-collaboration with internal teams to produce engaging content for various platforms including company website and social media channels
- Supporting and contributing to PR plans and media strategies

What we’re looking for:
- Experience in English Language, Journalism, or a related field
- Degree in Journalism, PR, or a related field
- Excellent writing and editing skills together with accurate proofreading
- Ability to produce clear and compelling content under tight deadlines
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media contacts, and stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and understanding of media monitoring tools and the ability to analyse and report on media coverage
- Experience in crisis communications is highly advantageous
- Ability to manage sensitive information
- Experience in using digital platforms and social media for communication purposes
