The Hive offers 3G and grass training pitches, conferencing and banqueting facilities, a medical centre, gym, and restaurant, creating a vibrant multi-purpose environment. Role Description
The Press Officer is a full-time, on-site role based at The Hive London in Barnet. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day media relations, including responding to press enquiries, coordinating interviews, and preparing players and staff for media appearances. The Press Officer drafts and distributes press releases, match reports, and official club statements, ensuring consistent and accurate communication across all channels. The role also involves maintaining relationships with local and national media, organizing press conferences and mixed zones on matchdays, and supporting broader communications campaigns. The successful candidate will work closely with the communications and marketing teams to protect and enhance the club’s reputation and promote key initiatives.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in written communication, including press release writing, match reporting, and speech or statement drafting.
- Experience in media relations, such as handling journalist enquiries, arranging interviews, and coordinating press conferences.
- Ability to manage social and digital content related to press activity, ensuring alignment with overall club messaging.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines, especially on matchdays and during busy news cycles.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced sports environment, including evenings and weekends as required by fixtures and events.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with players, staff, and media partners.
- Previous experience in sports communications, public relations, or journalism, ideally within football or professional sport, is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail, sound editorial judgment, and an understanding of reputation management and brand guidelines.
- Knowledge of English football, its media landscape, and current trends in sports coverage and fan engagement.
