This is a fixed-term position until March 2027, funded by the Home Office. Funding for the role is reviewed annually, and continuation of the post is subject to ongoing Home Office approval and funding. Enhanced DBS required.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Good knowledge of crime & disorder and community cohesion issues, including an understanding of national policies, their application at local level, the roles of local authorities, the police & other agencies
• In-depth understanding of the Prevent Duty, statutory responsibilities under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015, and how these apply to local authorities
• Detailed knowledge of Channel processes, case-management requirements, vulnerability assessment frameworks and multi-agency safeguarding pathways
• Demonstrable experience of Prevent delivery within a local government or statutory safeguarding setting, including work relating to extremism, vulnerability and associated safeguarding processes
• Experience working within multi-agency safeguarding structures (e.g., Channel, MAPPA, Community Safety Partnerships) and contributing to complex risk-management decisions.
• Experience coordinating or chairing partnership boards, steering groups or case-management forums, ensuring high-quality administration, action tracking and performance oversight
• Excellent IT, verbal and written communication skills, with experience of high-level report writing and presentation of reports to varying audiences including elected members, senior management and the community.
• Willingness to work flexibly and respond to needs of the service, including working ad-hoc evenings and weekends as well as attending residents’ meetings and resident engagement events across the borough.

Whilst this is a hybrid role, the Community Safety Team are based at 1000 Dockside Road and there is a requirement to be office based a minimum of 2 days a week.
