Role Description/Purpose
Join the British Council as a Pricing Manager and play a key role in transforming complex data into meaningful insights that shape strategic decision-making across our English and Exams business. Working within the Pricing, Planning and Performance Team, you will collaborate with colleagues in London and across our global network to support commercial growth, optimise performance, and drive evidence-based decision-making.
In this role, you will collect, analyse, and interpret a wide range of data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. You will develop reports, dashboards, and visualisations that provide stakeholders with clear and actionable insights, helping to inform business planning, pricing decisions, and marketing strategies. By ensuring data accuracy and delivering high-quality analysis, you will enable teams across the organisation to make informed decisions that enhance performance and maximise return on investment.
The successful candidate will work closely with marketing, commercial, finance, and operational stakeholders to understand business needs and translate complex data into meaningful recommendations. You will also support scenario modelling, forecasting, and performance measurement activities, contributing to the development of pricing approaches and marketing initiatives that align with business objectives.

Role Accountabilities
The British Council is seeking a highly analytical and commercially focused Pricing Manager to join the Pricing, Planning and Performance Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a data-driven professional who is passionate about transforming complex information into actionable insights that influence commercial performance, marketing effectiveness, and strategic decision-making across our global English and Exams business.
In this role, you will be responsible for analysing marketing performance data and pricing trends to identify opportunities for optimisation and growth. You will create and automate reports, dashboards, and data visualisations that measure the effectiveness of marketing activities and pricing strategies, providing stakeholders with clear and actionable recommendations. Your work will include customer journey analysis, attribution modelling, funnel analysis, scenario modelling, breakeven assessments, and post-implementation reviews to support evidence-based decision-making and maximise return on investment.

You will play a key role in developing and maintaining tools and methodologies that identify pricing opportunities and measure business benefits. The position also involves managing pricing data across the British Council’s portfolio and relevant competitor products, ensuring that information remains accurate, accessible, and up to date across all markets.
Working closely with regional marketing, commercial, and finance teams, you will provide forecasts, performance insights, and strategic recommendations that support business planning and growth objectives. You will communicate complex findings in a clear and compelling manner, using data storytelling and visualisation techniques to help stakeholders understand risks, opportunities, and performance outcomes.
The role requires a strong focus on continuous improvement. You will evaluate the performance of marketing channels, including email marketing and paid digital campaigns, and recommend optimisation strategies to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. In addition, you will contribute to pricing governance and compliance activities, ensuring alignment with organisational standards and helping to assess the impact of pricing decisions on revenue and surplus.
As a trusted advisor, you will build strong relationships with colleagues across marketing, commercial, finance, insights, pricing, and marketing enablement teams, promoting collaboration and integrated ways of working. You will support the delivery of joined-up performance and pricing solutions that drive business success across global and regional operations.
The successful candidate will combine strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities. You will be comfortable working with large and complex datasets, translating information into practical business recommendations, and influencing decision-making at multiple levels of the organisation. Experience in marketing analytics, commercial analysis, pricing strategy, performance reporting, and data visualisation will be highly advantageous.

Qualifications & Experience
Essentials
- The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification, or demonstrable level of equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in marketing performance analytics and/or pricing within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to summarise results and present recommendations.
- Proficiency in SQL, BigQuery, Python, and dashboarding tools (Tableau, Looker, Google Analytics).
- Understanding of digital marketing channels (SEO, SEM, paid social, display).
- Experience in performance and reporting within a large organisation.
- Strong analytical and modelling skills.

Important Information
- Location: London, Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh | UK - Hybrid.
- Salary: Starting salary is £32,381 per annum.
- Working Model: Hybrid. British Council supports working in new ways such as hybrid working, subject to full approval by line management and conditional upon our ability to provide the appropriate level of service. This may not be appropriate for all roles but can be explored at interview.
- Contract type: Indefinite.
- Proof of Identity & Right to Work: Locally Recruited - Applications are welcomed from candidates currently in this location with a natural right to work. Applications are also welcomed from candidates currently based in other British Council country offices. However, please note candidates must have a natural right to work in the country, on a permanent basis, as immigration clearance and/or on-going visa support is not provided by the British Council for this role.
