This is a high-impact role within the Public Sector Bid Team (PSBT) pricing support function, reporting to the Pricing Director. As Public Sector Pricing Manager, you will lead and assure pricing on major public sector bids, provide strategic commercial advice and help strengthen pricing capability across the firm. You will build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, bring constructive challenge to commercial decisions and protect our pricing principles and guard rails. You will also help evolve how we work by exploring practical uses of AI and emerging technology to improve the quality, speed and consistency of our pricing support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the pricing of public sector bids, including producing, owning and quality-assuring financial models.
  • Driving initiatives to improve our margin, competitive position and pricing efficiency by managing commercial and pricing related projects and developing supporting materials and guidance.
  • Improving pricing capability within the firm, including designing and delivering training to Government and Public Sector practitioners, developing and maintaining pricing materials and guidance, and mentoring client-facing staff.
  • Exploring and adopting AI and other emerging technologies to improve the quality, speed and consistency of pricing analysis, modelling and guidance, while applying appropriate judgement and controls.
  • Providing strategic commercial advice to bid teams to inform key decision making, including advising on pricing under public sector frameworks.
  • Analysing bid management information, competitor intelligence and contracts, with a particular focus on pricing. Presenting these results to senior stakeholders to influence bid strategy.
  • Quickly building trusted relationships across the firm, adapting communication to different stakeholders and creating the credibility needed to influence commercial decisions.
  • Providing sound pricing input and robust, constructive challenge on bids; remaining firm under pressure and protecting agreed pricing principles, approvals and commercial guard rails.
  • Coaching and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
  • Championing our internal bid process and advising on bid related matters. Responsibilities and priorities may change over time according to the workload of the PSBT.

Essential

  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to develop, maintain and quality review robust financial models.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical capability, with the judgement to interpret complex data, identify commercial risks and opportunities, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships quickly, adapt to different audiences and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Confidence and resilience to provide constructive challenge, hold the line when required and protect pricing guard rails while maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to take ownership of complex work, coordinate input from others, prioritise competing demands and deliver accurately under pressure.
  • Commercial and strategic judgement, with a proactive approach and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to support successful bids.
  • Adaptable and curious in response to changing client needs, ways of working and technology; confident exploring AI tools, understanding their capabilities and limitations, and identifying practical applications without needing to be an AI specialist.
  • A degree in mathematics, economics, finance, business or another relevant quantitative or analytical discipline.

Desirable

  • Previous pricing experience.
  • Experience of UK public sector clients.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement and the process of bidding under UK procurement law.
  • Experience of coaching or mentoring less experienced colleagues, and designing or delivering online training.
  • Experience of reviewing commercial contracts and supporting commercial negotiations.
  • Experience of delivering continuous improvement in a commercial or analytical environment.
  • Experience of using AI, automation or emerging technology to improve analytical or commercial work, with an understanding of the need for appropriate validation, confidentiality and human judgement.
