Role Overview

The Pricing & Risk Analyst will play a key role in supporting firmus energy's pricing, risk management, forecasting and reporting activities.

This is a diverse analytical role that combines energy market analysis, wholesale purchasing support, commercial reporting, financial analysis and business intelligence. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Billing, Customer Operations and Senior Management to provide insight that supports strategic and operational decision-making.

The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in energy markets, pricing strategy, risk management, financial analysis and reporting within a fast-paced and evolving sector.

Role Responsibilities

  • Support firmus energy's pricing, forecasting and risk management activities across gas and electricity portfolios
  • Maintain and develop pricing, demand forecasting and commercial models to support business decision-making
  • Monitor wholesale energy markets and provide analysis on market trends, risks and commercial opportunities
  • Assist with energy purchasing, trade-book management and the implementation of approved hedging strategies
  • Prepare pricing proposals, customer quotations and tender submissions in line with commercial objectives
  • Produce and develop management information, performance reporting and business insights for stakeholders across the organisation
  • Undertake margin, variance, scenario and sensitivity analysis to support pricing and commercial decisions
  • Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, improve performance and support commercial decision-making
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sales and Operational teams to improve reporting, data quality and business processes
  • Keep up to date with relevant market, regulatory and industry developments and support continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in a numerate or analytical discipline such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Engineering or a related subject
  • Or
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within an analytical, reporting, finance, commercial or energy-related role

In addition, candidates should possess:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience producing reports, analysis and management information
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate complex analysis into clear commercial insights and evidence-based recommendations
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A commercial mindset and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience using Power BI to develop dashboards and management reporting
  • Experience within energy, utilities, commodity trading or regulated industries
  • Knowledge of natural gas and electricity markets
  • Experience in financial modelling, budgeting or forecasting
  • Experience in pricing, risk management or hedging activities
  • Experience using SQL, Power Query or other data transformation and analysis tools to work with large datasets
