Job Details

Salary Range: £41,771 - £44,075 pro-rata, per annum (actual salary £25,062 - £26,445 per annum)

Work Location: Winchester Fire Station

Hours per week: 22.2

Contract Type: Permanent

Closing Date: 30 September 2026

The Role

An opportunity has arisen to become part of the leading Fire Primary Authority (PA) in the UK. HIWFRS joined the PA Scheme in 2014 and have continued to support business partners in meeting their statutory duties in sometimes innovative ways, growing a partnership portfolio of over 52 businesses helping to reduce national fire risk and improving the safety of millions of residents.

We are seeking a pragmatic and competent Fire Safety Officer to join the Team.

Working nationally, you will manage your own portfolio of business partners, carrying out inspections of premises on request or as part of a proactive inspection schedule. Engaging with senior managers, you will provide support to all levels of the business.

You will have the knowledge and ability to challenge other national enforcing authorities to ensure statutory activity is consistent and proportional. In order to meet the requirements of this role you will need to:

  • be experienced in statutory inspections under the Fire Safety Order.
  • be qualified to Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspectors) or working towards.
  • be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of the Primary Authority Scheme and Statutory Guidance.
  • you will be required to occasionally visit other locations nationally and therefore need to have the ability to travel, as necessary.
  • be able to work unsupervised to an agenda agreed between you and the partner business.
