Job Description: Band 6 Primary Care Nurse at HMP Peterborough

At HMP Peterborough, we are committed to delivering outstanding, compassionate healthcare to a diverse and often vulnerable population. As a Band 6 Primary Care Nurse, you will play a key role in providing high-quality, person-centred care within a secure custodial environment, helping to reduce health inequalities and improve health outcomes for those in our care.

Role Overview

This is a rewarding and varied role that offers the opportunity to work autonomously whilst being part of a supportive multidisciplinary healthcare team. You will:

  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care
  • Manage long-term conditions
  • Undertake health screening
  • Promote wellbeing
  • Respond to a wide range of physical health needs

As a Band 6 nurse, you will also provide clinical leadership and support to colleagues, acting as a role model who demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and clinical excellence. You will contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the ongoing delivery of safe, effective healthcare services.
