Primary Class Teacher

Basic Salary: £28,000 - £39,520 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only

Location: Haltwhistle, Northumberland

About Our School

North Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with.

Our school is now an accredited Silver Award Attachment and Trauma-Sensitive School, and we gained our first Outstanding Ofsted inspection in 2014.

As a teacher, you will be enhancing the learning of pupils who have a wide range of special educational and learning needs. You will also be supporting the teaching staff in enabling the pupils to gain independence, participate fully in the curriculum, and the general life of the school. This role will be based at Herdley Bank School.

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the National Curriculum while meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils
  • Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours
  • Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
  • Build positive relationships with your pupil or pupils, encouraging interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have a strong educational background to degree level
  • Previous successful teaching experience
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
  • Experience of using effective behaviour management techniques
  • Be committed to professional development and willing to learn
