JOB DETAILS:

Job Reference: HCC624247

Salary Range: £66,050 - £69,598 per annum (Soulbury 17-20 plus up to 3 SPA points with possible progression to £73,609 per annum) plus Market Supplement £9,000 per annum, plus Home Working Allowance £312 per annum

Work Location: Home based (predominantly school-based with regular travel)

Hours per week: 37

Contract Type: Permanent

Closing Date: 31 August 2026

Interview Date: 14 and 15 September 2026


THE ROLE:

Do you share our ambition for achieving a consistently inclusive, high-quality primary years education for all our children and young people?

As a Primary Phase Inspector (PPI) for a group of schools in Hampshire you will enhance their journey to excellence and promote effective partnership working. In this role you will join a strong countywide team of PPIs and curriculum experts offering professional support, challenge and intellectual stimulus to a diverse community of educators, particularly school headteachers, who have high expectations of our service.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • You will have a clear vision for education that you can articulate with confidence.
  • You will have a detailed and up to date knowledge of the primary curriculum and features of effective teaching.
  • You will have held at least one headship in a school with primary-aged pupils.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to meet challenges with optimism.

You will understand what develops the capacity of school leaders to embed ambition and drive improvement in their schools and the role of an adviser in influencing that journey.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Successful, recent experience as the substantive headteacher within an infant, junior or primary school setting
  • Relevant qualification to degree level or equivalent including Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Evidence of further professional study
  • Strong technical school improvement knowledge with a proven track record of improving outcomes for children and young people within a primary education context
  • Values and attitudes consistent with the work of the Children’s Services Directorate and a public sector Local Authority role
  • Highly effective communication, including written, negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills
  • Well organised, effective time management
  • An entrepreneurial and imaginative disposition to contribute to a thriving service
