Role Description
The Primary School PE Specialist will deliver high-quality PE and sports coaching sessions to primary-aged children in school settings, ensuring lessons are fun, inclusive, and aligned with or exceeding national curriculum and early years standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Planning and delivering structured PE lessons, extra-curricular clubs, and activity programs
- Managing equipment
- Monitoring pupil progress
- Adapting activities to suit different abilities and needs
- Liaising with school staff and leadership
- Supporting whole-school health and wellbeing initiatives
- Contributing to extended schools and out-of-school hours learning activities

This is a full-time role based primarily in Runcorn, with a hybrid working pattern allowing some planning, reporting, and administrative tasks to be completed from home.
Qualifications
- Strong practical knowledge of primary PE, sports coaching, and child-focused fitness activities, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate sessions.
- Skills in classroom and behaviour management, creating inclusive environments and adapting activities for diverse needs and abilities.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills for working with children, school staff, and parents in a professional and respectful manner.
- Organisational skills for lesson planning, time management, and maintaining equipment and resources to a high standard.
- Relevant coaching or teaching qualifications (e.g., PE, sports coaching, education, or related field) and experience working with primary-aged children in schools or community settings.
- Commitment to safeguarding and safer recruitment principles, with willingness to undergo enhanced background checks and follow all child protection procedures.
- Understanding of health, fitness, and wellbeing in childhood, and enthusiasm for promoting active, healthy lifestyles.
- Flexibility to travel between local schools in and around Runcorn and to work during typical school hours, with occasional before- or after-school clubs.
