A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southfields is seeking a warm, skilled and ambitious Year 1 Class Teacher to join its team from January 2027.

The successful candidate will have high expectations for all pupils and a strong understanding of how young children learn. They will create a calm, purposeful and inclusive classroom where children feel valued, supported and motivated to succeed.

The Role

  • Teach a Year 1 class and deliver engaging, creative and purposeful lessons.
  • Establish strong foundations in early reading, phonics, writing and mathematics.
  • Use assessment effectively to identify needs and adapt teaching accordingly.
  • Support pupils with a range of starting points, including those with SEND and EAL.
  • Promote positive behaviour and strong relationships throughout the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider school community.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

KS1 Phase Leader Opportunity

For an experienced candidate, there is an opportunity to take on additional responsibility as KS1 Phase Leader, including:

  • Supporting and coaching colleagues across the phase.
  • Modelling high-quality teaching and adaptive practice.
  • Supporting planning, assessment and behaviour strategies.
  • Using pupil outcomes and monitoring to identify areas for development.
  • Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and SENCo.
  • Receiving protected fortnightly half-day leadership release.
