Primary / SEND Teacher – 1:1 Alternative Provision
Peterborough | Face-to-face | 15 hours per week | £45 per hour | Term-time
Silvercrest Education is looking for an experienced and compassionate Primary or SEND Teacher to deliver a 1:1 alternative education provision for a young person in Peterborough.
This is a 15-hour-per-week, face-to-face role for a teacher who understands that successful alternative provision starts with relationships, consistency, and meeting the learner where they are.
The role
You will work directly with one young person, delivering an individualized programme shaped around their educational needs, interests, and wider outcomes.
This is not a traditional classroom role. You will have the flexibility to adapt learning to the individual and focus on meaningful progress across academic learning, engagement, confidence, communication, and independence.
You will be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering engaging 1:1 learning
- Adapting teaching to the learner’s individual needs and starting points
- Supporting progress across appropriate areas of the primary curriculum
- Using a nurturing, SEND-informed, and trauma-aware approach
- Building a positive and consistent relationship with the learner
- Contributing to weekly progress and engagement reporting
- Working collaboratively with Silvercrest Education, the family, and other professionals involved in the provision

We would particularly like to hear from teachers with experience in:
- Primary education
- SEND and inclusive practice
- Autism and/or ADHD
- SEMH
- EBSA or learners who have experienced barriers to school attendance
- Alternative provision, outreach, tuition, or 1:1 teaching
- Supporting learners who may need a gradual or highly personalized approach to education
Essential
- QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
- Strong safeguarding knowledge
- Ability to plan and deliver learning independently
- A calm, flexible, and relationship-led approach
- Enhanced DBS, ideally registered with the Update Service, or willingness to complete the required safeguarding checks

- Rate: £45 per hour
- Schedule: Term-time
- Engagement: Self-employed contractor
