- Plan and deliver engaging and creative lessons across the Year 1 curriculum.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all pupils.
- Create a positive, nurturing and well-managed classroom environment.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement and progress.
- Assess pupil progress and use this to inform future planning.
- Support pupils in developing their confidence, independence and learning skills.
- Encourage a positive attitude towards learning.
- Manage behaviour effectively using consistent and positive strategies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider school team.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers where required.

The Successful Year 1 Teacher Will Have

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent.
- Previous experience teaching in a primary school, ideally within KS1.
- Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
- A positive, enthusiastic and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young pupils.
- A proactive, organised and flexible approach.
- A genuine passion for teaching and helping children achieve their potential.
