Year 5 Teacher: Key Responsibilities
As a Year 5 Teacher, You Will
- Plan and deliver engaging and creative lessons across the Year 5 curriculum.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all pupils.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, achievement, and progress.
- Assess pupil progress and use this to inform future planning.
- Support pupils with their academic and personal development.
- Encourage pupils to become confident, independent learners.
- Manage behaviour effectively using consistent and positive strategies.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and the wider school team.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers where required.

Year 5 Teacher: About You
The Successful Year 5 Teacher Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent.
- Previous experience teaching in a primary school, ideally within KS2.
- Strong knowledge of the KS2 curriculum.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
- A positive, enthusiastic, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- A proactive, organised, and flexible approach.
- A genuine passion for teaching and helping children achieve their potential.
