About The Role

Purpose Of The Role
As the Primary Team Leader, you will be responsible for liaising with the on-shift Primary Team and coordinating downtime events, ensuring minimal impact on bird welfare, operational efficiency, and value loss.
Working Hours
Monday - Friday 04:30am -13:30pm J&F / Sunday 12:45am -21:45pm, Monday - Thursday 14:00pm-23:00pm J&F
What will you be doing as Primary Team Leader, at Avara?
As the Primary Team Leader, you will be responsible for liaising with the on-shift Primary Team and coordinating downtime events, ensuring minimal impact on bird welfare, operational efficiency, and value loss.
What will your key responsibilities as a Primary Team Leader include?
- Update and maintain information - also performance tracking
- Ensure all data/information is accurately recorded for Primary performance reviews
- Work with the Shift Manager reviewing abnormalities on performance data
- Liaise and contribute with all the Primary Team Leaders to ensure successful processing of daily targets
- Be responsible for coordinating downtime and significant loss events in the Primary process
- Assist the shift manager in ensuring the best possible outcome managing bird welfare, people and product
- Work with engineering to make improvements for the areas, time scales and action plans
- Implement improvements driven from the Shift Manager and Primary colleagues
- Maximize improvement through continual review of operations and by instigating improvements where necessary and drive through any changes
- Identify and target areas to improve OEE performance of the Primary process
- Ensure schedules are reviewed and issues communicated and escalated
- Coordinate with personnel, to produce quality products to schedule, whilst maintaining a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation with maximum utilization of resources
- Review results from the area and report back to appropriate management team
- Ensure employee and product safety always, ensuring full training is given according to task procedures and individual needs
- Maintaining adherence to Avara Foods safety and hygiene standards
- Ensure all Company policies, standards, processes are met and adhered to by all personnel on shift.

Essential
What you’ll need to be successful:
- Secondary level education
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing/FMCG environment (ideally food processing)
- At least 2 years’ experience in a production supervisory role
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions
- A solid understanding of health & safety and food hygiene standards
- Proficiency with computer systems and production data tracking
- Ability to train, coach and develop team members
- Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to business needs

Desirable
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Management (or equivalent)
- Experience using OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and performance metrics
- Knowledge of continuous improvement/lean manufacturing practices
