Location: St Padarn’s Institute, Cardiff
Contract: Permanent
Hours of Work: Full time (34.75 hours per week)
St Padarn's Institute is the Church in Wales' Christian learning community, equipping clergy and lay ministers to lead healthy, vibrant churches today and in the future. We are looking for an inspiring and strategic leader to serve as our next Principal and help shape the future of ministry training across Wales.
St Padarn's Institute is at the heart of theological education and ministerial formation for the Church in Wales.
The Principal leads the Institute as an Anglican learning community serving the Church in Wales, by ensuring excellence in formation, academic provision and pastoral care. Working closely with colleagues throughout Church in Wales, accrediting universities and regulatory bodies, the Principal will provide overall leadership to staff, students and the wider learning community.
The person we are looking for will be an Anglican priest with substantial ministerial experience and will have:
- A doctorate in theology and a strong understanding of higher education sector, quality assurance and regulatory framework
- A proven track record of leading complex organisations and the development and implementation of strategy
- Experience of teaching and facilitating learning in a subject area relevant to ministerial formation
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong financial, organisational and governance experience
- The ability to inspire, motivate and develop others
- Sound judgement, pastoral sensitivity and emotional resilience
- A commitment to developing a sympathetic understanding of and passion for the Welsh language and context
- The ability to speak or willingness to learn Welsh to at least Sylfaen level
