Role Description

The Principal is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Bradford, responsible for the overall academic, operational, and strategic direction of the college. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing teaching and learning quality
  • Managing faculty and administrative teams
  • Ensuring that curricula and programs meet regulatory and accreditation standards

The Principal will develop and implement academic policies, monitor student outcomes, and drive initiatives that improve retention, achievement, and learner satisfaction. The role involves:

  • Managing budgets and resources
  • Maintaining compliance with relevant education authorities
  • Fostering strong relationships with external partners, employers, and community stakeholders

The Principal will also lead on staff recruitment and development, promote a positive and inclusive college culture, and represent the institution in external meetings, events, and inspections.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership and management experience in an educational or academic setting, with responsibility for staff oversight, strategic planning, and performance management.
  • Strong skills in academic governance, curriculum development, and quality assurance, including familiarity with UK education standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability in financial and operational management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, governing bodies, and external partners.
  • Commitment to inclusive education, student-centered practices, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Advanced academic qualifications in education, management, or a relevant discipline (e.g., a master’s degree or equivalent); a doctoral degree is advantageous.
  • Experience in science and technology education or related fields is highly beneficial, along with a strong understanding of current trends and workforce needs.
  • Ability to work on-site in Bradford on a full-time basis and to respond effectively to operational needs within a dynamic college environment.
