- Alongside managing a demanding caseload, you'll support the Head of Legal (People), deputising when required and helping to ensure the effective leadership and management of the Adult Social Care legal team.
- A key aspect of the role will be building strong relationships across the organisation and with external partners, providing clear and practical legal guidance that supports sound decision-making and effective governance.
- You'll contribute to service improvement and transformation initiatives, support the development of policies and procedures, deliver training and share legal developments across the organisation to ensure services remain compliant, informed and responsive to change.
- You'll also play an important role in developing colleagues, fostering a high-performing and supportive team culture, championing innovation and helping to shape a modern legal service that continues to evolve to meet the needs of the Council and its communities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
