Principal AI Architect
Contract: Until the end of 2026
Location: London – Hybrid
We’re looking for an experienced Principal AI Architect to join a major AI Readiness and Data Foundations programme.
This is a senior, highly visible role sitting across AI strategy, architecture and delivery, with a particular focus on designing and evolving enterprise-scale Agentic AI platforms and production systems.
You’ll work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders to shape the architectural direction of the programme, while remaining close enough to the technology to support technical design, prototyping and development when required.
The Role
You’ll help define the technical foundations required to scale AI across a complex enterprise environment, moving from experimentation towards secure, resilient and production-ready solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Define and evolve the AI architecture and technical roadmap
- Design enterprise-scale Agentic AI platforms and production systems
- Shape architectural patterns across GenAI, LLMs, orchestration, integrations and AI platforms
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient and appropriately governed
- Assess existing data and technology environments to identify AI readiness gaps
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Data and AI
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure architectural decisions translate effectively into delivery
- Remain hands-on when required, supporting technical design, prototyping and development
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines Principal-level architecture experience with genuine AI engineering and delivery knowledge.

You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience designing enterprise AI and Agentic AI architectures
- Experience taking AI solutions from concept through to production
- Strong understanding of AI platforms, data foundations and cloud architecture
- Experience across GenAI, LLM applications, RAG, orchestration and modern AI architectures
- Good understanding of security, governance, observability and production controls
- The technical depth to remain hands-on when needed
- Excellent senior stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience working within complex enterprise or consulting environments
Previous Financial Services experience would be highly desirable, particularly within regulated environments.
