About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Principal AI Engineer to join our expanding team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with one of the fastest-growing AI and data businesses globally, which is heavily investing in next-generation AI products. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced AI solutions that influence the future of the company’s offerings. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, who is passionate about innovation and leading technical teams. The role offers flexibility with remote working options across the UK, Europe, US, or UAE, and requires onsite presence at various locations including Manchester, Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Central London.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with a minimum of a Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field. Extensive experience of 8+ years in AI and machine learning development is essential, with proven expertise in designing scalable AI architectures and deploying AI models in production environments. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++ are required, along with familiarity with popular AI frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras. The candidate should have a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistical modeling. Experience leading technical teams, managing complex projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams is highly desirable. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and understanding of data privacy and security standards are also important.
Responsibilities
The Principal AI Engineer will be responsible for leading the development and deployment of innovative AI solutions that meet business needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and architecting AI models and algorithms
- Overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects
- Ensuring the robustness, scalability, and security of AI systems
- Collaborating closely with product managers, data scientists, and software engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Mentoring junior team members
- Setting technical standards
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning
- Evaluating new tools and technologies
- Contributing to strategic planning for AI initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with data privacy, security standards, and ethical considerations in AI development
