Principal AI Engineer
Principal AI Engineer wanted by a rapidly scaling AI company building customer-facing products with real-world use.
They are looking for a hands-on engineer who can build across the stack, work closely with customers, and take products from an initial idea through to production as a solo contributor.
This position would suit someone who relishes working in the thrust of the startup world and enjoys the pace, ownership, and variety that comes with it. You will primarily work with Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, with TypeScript and Next.js on the front end. The platform is hosted on GCP using Kubernetes.
You will be responsible for:
- Building and shipping AI product features across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure
- Developing production systems using Python, LLMs, and third-party integrations
- Working directly with customers to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions
- Building reliable asynchronous Python services and event-driven systems
- Making sensible decisions around rapid delivery versus longer-term scalability
- Maintaining high standards across testing, documentation, security, and reliability

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
