My client, an established environmental consultancy specialising in air quality and climate change, is seeking a Principal Air Quality Consultant to join its Southampton team, offering the opportunity to work on major development projects while becoming an important part of a growing environmental consultancy.

The work starts early: often when projects are still taking shape. You will be involved across site acquisition, master planning and planning, providing specialist air quality and climate change advice that can influence how developments progress. It is varied, commercially relevant work, with plenty of scope to bring your own experience and judgement to the table.

Benefits

  • Exposure to exciting, high-profile development projects
  • Competitive salary
  • Generous annual leave
  • Genuine opportunities to develop professionally
  • A supportive team where ideas and expertise are valued
  • Hybrid working opportunities
  • Competitive benefits package
  • The chance to contribute to the continued growth of the consultancy

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Desirable experience

Experience working on development projects through multiple stages of the planning process would be particularly useful, especially where you have been involved from early site acquisition or master-planning. Experience supporting colleagues, developing client relationships, or contributing to the commercial side of consultancy would also be advantageous.
