This is an exciting leadership role within our Compliance & Enforcement Profession, offering the chance to lead multidisciplinary teams delivering high-profile work that protects consumers, ensures industry compliance and supports the delivery of vital government energy schemes. You will oversee the delivery of important regulatory and compliance activities, manage competing priorities, and work collaboratively across Ofgem to deliver high-quality outcomes. Depending on your deployment, you may support the delivery of renewable energy and social programmes worth over £12 billion annually, oversee compliance with scheme requirements, lead investigations into potential breaches, or help ensure consumers receive the protections and support they are entitled to. You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing leadership, solving complex problems and ensuring risks are effectively managed.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining analysis, stakeholder engagement, project management and people leadership. You will lead and develop inclusive, high-performing teams, support professional development, and contribute specialist expertise across a variety of projects. Job description
Key Responsibilities
- To support team deliverables that utilise your expertise to ensure successful outcomes across team members and collaborating teams
- Provide clear and transparent work objectives, milestones and success metrics in your area of expertise to oversee and co-ordinate successful team outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with other teams to manage interdependencies, risks and resourcing to support portfolio delivery.
- Demonstrate effective diversity and inclusive team management within their team and the wider organisation.
Key Outputs and Deliverables
- Setting-up and leading high-performing team based on effective resource management ongoing support and professional development.
- Oversee the implementation of a government energy support scheme and in particular, the compliance of scheme participants with the applicable mandatory requirements. In the event of material compliance breaches, oversee enforcement action where necessary.
- Manage effective and inclusive team resourcing and staff onboarding through close engagement with relevant Deputy Director, Workstream Managers, Heads of Professions, PDLs and HR Staffers to ensure best talent match to work needs.
- Provide expert guidance to help team members deliver, by building supportive, inclusive team environment based on trust-based relationships, transparency and inclusivity. Provide expert guidance and solutions to complex problems.
- Takes ownership for own and team members’ professional development by:
- Identifying your own continued professional development.
- Providing ongoing coaching and identification of development opportunities.
- Provide advice and support for colleagues who are pursuing professional qualifications
- Represent Ofgem with external stakeholders, such as the companies being investigated, as well as developing links internally with other teams across Ofgem.

Person specification
- Proven ability to motivate and lead a team (or equivalent) operating in a matrix working environment, managing multiple priorities and delivering successful outcomes to deadlines [Lead criteria].
- Experience of working in complex environments as a trusted internal expert, providing advice, constructive challenge and insight to senior leaders on strategic and operational performance.
- Strong collaborative and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence diverse internal and external stakeholders, including in challenging or high-pressure situations.
- Proven experience of developing strategy and translating it into clear, deliverable execution plans, with defined objectives, milestones and success measures.
- Experience of delivering social and environmental schemes in accordance with legislative requirements
- Strong expertise in transformation and change management, including experience of leading a PMO function, complex programmes, projects or significant workstreams.
