TRC is seeking an experienced Principal Infrastructure Architect to join our Digital Solutions Delivery organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Architect, this role serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, governance, and successful delivery of enterprise-scale utility technology programmes.

The Principal Infrastructure Architect will act as the technical authority across multiple projects and strategic client engagements, providing leadership from solution definition through implementation and operational transition. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong delivery leadership, ensuring solutions are architecturally sound, operationally resilient, commercially viable, and aligned with client business objectives.

The successful candidate will work closely with executive stakeholders, programme managers, delivery managers, project managers, solution architects, engineers, and client leadership teams to deliver complex IT/OT transformation initiatives across the utility sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Infrastructure Architecture for complex utility and energy transformation programmes.
  • Act as the senior technical authority on assigned projects and delivery portfolios.
  • Define system, application, integration, infrastructure, security, and data architectures.
  • Establish and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and governance processes.
  • Lead technical design reviews, architecture assurance activities, and solution approvals.
  • Provide technical oversight throughout delivery, testing, deployment, and operational handover.
  • Support business development, bid responses, solution shaping, and technical due diligence activities.
  • Mentor and develop Solution Architects, Technical Leads, Systems Engineers, and Integration Specialists.
  • Drive continuous improvement of TRC delivery methodologies, frameworks, accelerators, and reusable assets.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with client executives, architects, and operational stakeholders.
  • Ensure solutions align with TRC standards for quality, security, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Provide technical leadership across cloud, on-premises, hybrid, and edge architectures.
  • Support programmed governance, risk management, issue resolution, and executive reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Architect to evolve TRC's architecture capabilities, standards, and strategic direction.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
